The Basics of Insect Rearing: a practical course

The insect sector is an emerging industry with great potential to contribute to a sustainable future. Growing insects on a commercial scale is still a relatively new activity and requires both theoretical and practical foundations to set up a successful nursery and insect production system.

This basic course is an extensive introduction for insect rearing for 3 important species in the sector: BSF, mealworms and crickets. The course guides participants through the key principles of ecology, biology and breeding combined with quality management, business model development, legislation around insect farming and facility management.
